A hefty 199 page tome produced by Manchester Business School for DEFRA looking at the impacts on the environment of both the locally and the globally sourced foods that we grow and consume.  Water use, energy use, global warming, packaging and processing impacts are assessed using a Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) approach.  Not a riveting read but full of interesting information that may influence what you buy and eat in future.  Download at
